I grew up in the Western Massachusetts town of Amherst (affectionately known as “The Happy Valley”) where my parents raised my younger sister and I as Phillies and Eagles fans! After working and studying in Israel for a year, I attended UMass Amherst as a freshman and transferred to Tufts University in Boston (where I converted to the Red Sox and the Celtics). I graduated with a BA in Psychology, with research interests in the role of children’s television in teaching or combating stereotypes and prejudicial behavior, conflict resolution, and social cognition. After graduation, I stayed in Boston and worked as an administrative professional for two years before becoming a project manager at the Anti-Defamation League, a Jewish anti-Bias non-profit organization. In this role, I managed a program that taught middle schoolers about how to respond to anti-Semitism, as well as participating in general anti-bias programs for middle and high school students.Rong Hai, Sansom Community Coordinator, Contact Information
Currently, I am a first year student in the Masters of Social Work program in the school of Social Policy and Practice. I'm loving Philly and Penn! Besides my role as Sansom Residential Coordinator, I work as a case manager in a transitional residential facility for homeless women and their children in North Philly called Drueding Center/Project Rainbow. My current passion is for addressing issues of nutrition, obesity and food access in underserved populations and I plan to specialize in Macro level (systems, managment and policy) social work in my second year of study. In my "free time", I am a competitive Ultimate Frisbee player and I love to cook, read, and do crafty things with repurposed materials.
Please come stop by room 504 anytime for a cup of tea!
