Carl comes to Sansom Commons from the "Windy City" of Chicago, Illinois. He earned his Bachelor of Science
Degree in Computer Science and Sociology from Northeastern Illinois University. Currently, he is a student
in Penn's Graduate School of Education pursing a Master of Science in Education degree as a part of the Higher
Education Management program. Carl enjoys volleyball, tennis and Scrabble.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinate staff development
- Supervise fire safety information
- Manage lounge and lobby spaces
- Supervise Sansom Special Assistant
- Manage Sansom Advisor duty system
Julia Kerns, Community Coordinator, kernsj@nursing.upenn.edu
Julia Kerns is a second-degree nursing student. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in psychology from The
College of New Jersey and worked for several years in childhood obesity research at Penn before returning to school.
She loves to read, travel, watch football and spend time with friends and family.
Responsibilities include:
- Facilitate Community Forums
- Supervise newsletter, website, server, and associate managers
- Support resident-generated community projects
- Coordinate Sansom Place feedback and customer services initiatives.
