POLICIES

  • Alcohol
The consumption of liquor is forbidden by the University in all common rooms and public spaces of student facilities, unless the event is registered and approved by the Director of Housing and Conference Services and conducted in accordance with the University Alcohol Policy.
  • In cases of intoxication and/or alcohol poisoning, the primary concern is the health and safety of the individual(s) involved. Individuals are strongly encouraged to call for medical assistance for themselves of for a friend or acquaintance that is dangerously intoxicated. No student seeking medical treatment for an alcohol or other drug related overdose will be subject to University discipline for the sole violation of using or possessing alcohol or drugs. This policy shall extend to another student seeking help for the intoxicated student.

Read and know this policy. An on-line copy of this alcohol policy is available at http://www.vpul.upenn.edu/alcohol/policy.html.

  • Halogen Lamps
Halogen lamps of all styles, models, and wattage can be dangerous. In order to ensure the safety of all campus residents, halogen lamps of all kinds are prohibited in Sansom Place and campus-wide Your cooperation is important.

  • Quiet Hours
Sansom Place has quiet hours during which noisemaking activities, such as loud talking, stereo and TV playing, and the like should be kept to a low level. The hours are as follows: Sunday - Thursday, 11 PM - 9 AM
    and
    Friday & Saturday, 1 AM - 11 AM

In addition, there is a 24-hour Courtesy Policy. Please be considerate of your neighbors at all times, particularly when approached about noise issues. The noise policy is listed in your Residential Handbook distributed at the beginning of the semester which states, "...excessive shouting or the playing of stereos, musical instruments, radios, televisions, etc., at loud volume is prohibited in the residence at all times."

If you have a problem with someone else's noise-making, please, TELL THEM in the politest way possible. If you are approached by someone who has a problem with YOUR noise-making, please respect their wishes and comply.

With cooperation, this will be a good year for all residents. However, if a dispute arises which you are not able to resolve, your Sansom Advisor will be glad to help.

  • Smoking
Smoking is NOT permitted anywhere in the Sansom Place Residential Facilities. Failure to comply with smoking regulations will result in fines and/or further disciplinary actions.
